gardens

Here it is the last day of May,2010 and I would like to show more pictures of my vegetable garden and my flower beds. Some of the flowers were just added this spring so they arent't very big. The first flower bed I would like to show you is my shade garden. It leads to our deck from the driveway or we can enter it from the house off the deck. Here is a shot of the hosta/shade bed looking towards the house. I have 2 of the black planters ...one on either side of the stairs going up to the deck. I love the purple flower..it is called Senetti...or Pericallis.  I have a Golden Moneywort  and some lobelias in the pots too. The purple and lime green look gorgeous together.
The ground is very soggy and I can't really work in the beds just yet but I tried to take some close ups of the raindrops....look like little jewels on the leaves.
How can you tell I love purple in my flower beds. I would like to have purple, white and lime green in these beds. Work in progress. This columbine is in its second year. I added two of them last spring and they seem to be quite content. I have a stripey Jacob's ladder in this bed but it is finished blooming.
This green corner stand is something I found on the side of a driveway last year during the free weekend in our city. I have 2 little baby planters with hens and chicks in them and pansies and lobelia in the other planter. This too is a work in progress. Have to add more planters and bric a brac to it.
I also have a little wild violet that came from somewhere but I have no idea where. I know it wasn't there last year. In fact, I was going to dig some up on my son's property at the lake and bring them here but it just appeared.  I also have yellow lady slippers against the house. They were already here when we bought the house. But I do love them and am hoping to get more from the lake. Well, that is all for now. I will continue to take more pictures as the flowers bloom.
