Today, was a beautiful day again. Little bit of a cool wind but temperature was around 19C. We were expecting soil for our gardens. Thought it was going to be delivered today but when I called they didnt have my order on record. I told the guy it better get delivered tomorrow or he could cancel my 5 yds. It will be here before 10. After church we can start filling in the garden beds. I am really excited.
Hubby made me 3 more. Looks like a lot but really once they start to fill in with plants it won't look so bad. I hope I have enough this year to give fresh vegetables to the kids.
Hubby is upstairs with our little grandson, Max. They are quite tired from playing outside after supper. Now they are watching movies. I think both will be hitting the hay pretty soon. Then all will be quiet again. I get tired just watching the 2 of them.

Gardens
First, I was bugging hubby to make me a composter. So he did, then we had more leftover fence boards from my friend so I asked him to make some raised vegetable boxes. And he has. Everyday I come home and there are a couple more that he has made. Isn't he the greatest! Some are a little deeper because I want to plant potatoes in them. Last year we planted potatoes in what turned out to be our swamp. They grew and bloomed and even produced potatoes. When I dug them up they looked great but when I touched the potatoes they were mush. Rotten, mushy potatoes. Yuck. So we will try raised beds. I am planting peas, beans, cucumbers, carrots, beets, radish, zucchini, pumpkins and anything else I can think of. Can't wait. We have a small strawberry patch in the middle of the garden so I think we will leave it where it is. It produced last year even though it was so wet. Also, I think the strawberries kept the rabbits away from the peas and other veggies.

Spring
Spring is a season of rebirth. There is something magical about watching the new buds on the trees and hear the birds as they call to each other. The air smells fresh and clean after the rain and you can just about hear the grass growing.
It is a beautiful day here. The wind is a little nippy but when I look around there are definitely signs of spring. I looked up and the tree buds are just about to burst.
I also went and bought myself a bike today. I bought the men's bike because the ladies was a powder blue and had flowers on it. The cute little salesman at the till looked at me and said, "This has only 1 speed." "Yes," I said. "Do I look like someone who needs 21 speeds on her bike?" I love it. The seat is comfy for my bottom (that's the main thing) and I dont have to worry about changing gears. Love it, love, love, love it. Isn't she beautiful??? Even if it is a men's bike it will forever be known as she.

Easter
Happy belated Easter. This was a very busy Easter weekend for me. On Good Friday my daughter and I went to church. Then she came over for supper because I told her I was making ribs. Yum.
Saturday was busy because I was pre-making (is that a word??) my Easter dinner. Didn't even have time to vacuum and clean the main floor. So I am depending on hubby to do it tomorrow.
Sunday my daughter and I went to church. Our church had an amazing production...just like having a broadway show for free. The message was the crucifixion and resurection of Jesus but had Robin Hood, Michael Jackson Thriller, some moonwalk, Jim Carey, etc. Absolutely mind blowing. The actor that played Jim Carey was fantastic...he walked, talked, and acted just like him.
Sunday my kids and stepkids and grandson came for dinner. Before they came the Easter Bunny had hidden some eggs. (a.k.a. my daughter) We had a great time....oh, yes, mustn't forget the Kinder Surprise eggs. Tradition you know. These adult kids of mine love opening these eggs after dinner. My son just cant stop...he has to open all of them. I had 48 eggs in the basket. Now I have a mess to clean.

Friends
Yesterday, I went for breakfast with 5 of my friends. We went to our favorite little restaurant and sat and talked and talked for 2 hours or so. The place was quite empty when we arrived but got noisier and noisier and the morning went on. We always have a great time when we do our breakfast thing over spring break. We are all teachers , even though 4 of us are retired we still hang out. We all worked in the same school for 20 odd years and have been together all those years in the same place. I think that is quite unusual, young teachers don't have that kind of closeness and I really think that is too bad.
It was the 38th wedding anniversary of one of my friends. Imagine and she spent part of her special day with us. I dont think anyone wished her a Happy Anniversary and I feel really terrible for that. So today I send her an e-card but it doesn't really make me feel better.
I did my Easter dinner shopping and am ready to cook all day Sat. My kids and stepkids are coming. So it will be a great time. Now I am off to church with my daughter.
